The Timo Boll ALC is the blade of choice for the European Triple Champion, Timo Boll. Timo working with Butterfly’s technicians, helped design his new blade which offers a touch more speed than his previous model but still allows for the production of the heavy topspin strokes Timo is known for.
Using his new blade along with Butterfly’s new Tenergy rubbers, Timo successfully defended all three of his Titles at the 2008 European Championships. Timo plays fair and wins and so can you. The Timo Boll ALC offers the maximum blend of speed, heavy spin, and Control.

I think this blade works well whether you're close to the table or further back. Even with short pips on my backhand, switching between offense and defense — topspin drives, blocks, and so on — is really easy.

Just like the headline says, this is a really good blade that handles every technique without a hitch. When you hit a drive, it has a soft feel (compared to inner ZLC blades) — it holds the ball for a moment before releasing it. Because of that, you get both spin and speed. The stability is also high.
Close to the table, it's easy to aim your placement and it has enough speed that you can even win the point outright with one shot, and when you drop back to mid or far distance, the stability shows and you don't make mistakes during rallies. The farther back you go, the more the stability and spin stand out. Personally, I found it soft overall and easy to put spin on. (Compared strictly to inner ZLC blades.)
I also tried it with short pips, and it matched really well, giving speed while staying stable. It's good for short pips on the forehand too, but I'd recommend it more for short pips on the backhand. It's also a good match for someone who mainly plays forehand with pips on the backhand.
If you're a drive-oriented player using a ZLC blade but want a bit more grip on the ball and spin, or if you're using a 5-ply blade and want to boost your speed while keeping as much spin as possible, this is a good pick. I never used the Timo Boll series because I wasn't a fan of that lopsided feel,
but this blade doesn't have that, and I think it's really easy to use. That said, the feel is still
on the hard side, so I think it pairs better with a softer-feeling rubber.Overall Speed Spin Control Touch

Compared to the previous Timo Boll Spirit, this one feels a bit lighter. Maybe because of that, I feel like the shots themselves feel a bit lighter too, though I'm not totally sure....
That said, I think the rebound is strong and it's easy to put spin on. It's not really a "the ball just flies" kind of blade — I'd say it's easy to control.I didn't feel the soft touch the manufacturer describes. There's no flex to speak of, and I'd call it borderline hard, honestly. I'd say it pairs well with the Tenergy series, since Tenergy itself isn't all that hard. The feel is somehow dry and thin-feeling. That's the part I don't like.
I'm a chopper, so I only use this blade for fun, but when people bring it to tournaments, a lot of them pair it with Tenergy. When a strong player uses it, the ball comes at you fast with heavy spin and you're helpless (lol), but when less experienced or older players use it, the ball genuinely feels light. It does have speed, though. I think this is a blade for intermediate players and up.

Since it uses kiri (paulownia) wood, it has great snap. At first the ball flies off before you can get spin on it, but once you're used to it, it's fine. It's a blade that works with any rubber, so I recommend it.
