The Timo Boll ALC is the blade of choice for the European Triple Champion, Timo Boll. Timo working with Butterfly’s technicians, helped design his new blade which offers a touch more speed than his previous model but still allows for the production of the heavy topspin strokes Timo is known for.

Using his new blade along with Butterfly’s new Tenergy rubbers, Timo successfully defended all three of his Titles at the 2008 European Championships. Timo plays fair and wins and so can you. The Timo Boll ALC offers the maximum blend of speed, heavy spin, and Control.

    Customer Reviews SummaryAI Summary
This racket receives overwhelming support from advanced players as a high-performance option. It excellently combines the speed of outer carbon with rotational control, showing particularly strong compatibility with hard tension rubbers. However, beginners find it difficult to control, and most reviews emphasize that adaptation time is essential.
    ■ Frequently Mentioned Points
    • Exceptional balance of speed and spin performance
    • Best compatibility with hard tension-type rubbers
    • Recommended for intermediate to advanced players
    • Versatile for all techniques including quick attacks
    • Fast ball release requires control adjustment time
    ■ Representative Voices
▲ PositiveA rubber that can do everything from start to finish, with excellent speed, spin, and control. Once accustomed to it, players can execute virtually any shot. The compatibility with tension rubbers like Tenergy is exceptional.
▽ CriticalPlayers without solid fundamentals will struggle with lack of power, producing flat shots. The fast ball release typical of outer carbon means beginners cannot control the ball before it leaves. Adaptation time is a prerequisite for this racket.

I play with the same blade and rubber as Timo Boll, and it really does excel in terms of spin. Personally the ball feels like it leaves the racket a bit slowly and the speed is a little lacking, but in exchange the ball sinks into the rubber more, making topspin drives and loop drives easier, and I think control during rallies is really good. If I had to name the one downside, it would be that it lacks a little power on putaway shots and smashes. That might partly be the rubber's influence though...
Still, it's a really easy blade to use, and I've stuck with it for two years now ♪

Doryan (Experience: 6〜10 years) Hard but no shock to the hand

      Player reviews

Since it doesn't flex like wood, its standout feature is that you don't lose the exchange on blocks and counters.
It also returns the ball with a lot of stability.
It also suits softer tacky rubbers and tension rubbers, so it's nice that you have more rubber options.
It also has good grip on the ball, so the short game is easy to do and it's easy to put spin on the ball.
The balance is at a really high level so it's incredibly easy to handle. And it's light too!
It was such a good blade that I could barely find a downside.

      Player reviews

No matter what rubber you put on it, it's extremely easy to use — of all table tennis blades, this is the most stable and easiest to use.
I have Hurricane Neo3 with blue sponge on my forehand, and it gives me tons of spin, speed, and stability.
If any of you are struggling to pick a blade, please give this one a try❕

Yamada (Experience: 6〜10 years) Timo Boll, seriously! Amazing!

      Player reviews

The Timo Boll ALC has great spin and speed! If you're a bit light and take a big swing, you'll get amazing spin and speed out of it! Especially if you put max-thickness Tenergy 05 on your forehand, the spin and speed are incredible. The Timo Boll ALC makes it really easy to put spin on the ball, so I think it becomes really easy to use once you've been playing table tennis for about 4 years!! Try the Timo Boll ALC once and I think you'll understand how good it is.

I switched over from the Korbel, and I was able to use it without any trouble. Tenergy got expensive so I'm using Rakza X Soft now, and it pairs really well.
I think this blade probably works with pretty much any rubber.
That said, serves are a bit hard to put spin on.

Pen Tsukai in in handshake migration Highly recommended for intermediate to advanced players

      Player reviews

I think players used to wood blades won't feel much of a disconnect switching to this. Even though it has carbon in it, it doesn't feel like the ball just flies off wildly — I found the speed just right for playing close to the table through mid-distance. It does have enough speed that playing away from the table isn't impossible, but it feels like it's just slightly lacking there (~_~;) It might pair amazingly well with players who use their whole body and generate a lot of spin, like Timo Boll. But even if that's not you, as long as you don't play too far from the table, there's no problem at all — it puts more than enough spin on the ball and generates plenty of speed. If you're going to use this, I'd strongly recommend pairing it with Tenergy 05 or 80. Personally I felt the 64 didn't suit it.
