    Customer Reviews SummaryAI Summary
The balanced performance between Tenergy 05 and 64 is highly appreciated, with particular praise for stability and ease of use on the backhand. However, poor durability and high price are noted as major drawbacks.
    ■ Frequently Mentioned Points
    • Excellent balance combining 05's spin and 64's speed
    • Outstanding stability and ease of use on backhand
    • Exceptional at short-range techniques like chiquita
    • Strong all-around performance in rallies
    • Short durability and high price point
    ■ Representative Voices
▲ PositiveWhile Tenergy rubbers tend to have some sharp edges in performance, Tenergy 80 is perfectly balanced across all aspects. Both drive and block techniques, along with all skill levels, are easily improved.
▽ CriticalWhile it's a very good rubber, the high price and short lifespan are drawbacks. The topsheet wears easily, and the bounce diminishes within a month on the forehand side.

I switched from Sigma II Euro to Tenergy 80. Until you get used to it, blocks and drives fly off way too much!
But once you get the hang of it, it's really easy to use! Curve drives, shoot drives, loop drives — all kinds of techniques become easy to pull off!
The problems are the price and the lifespan... I wish it were a bit cheaper. The lifespan is really short. Those two are the drawbacks.
It was worth buying out of admiration for Mizutani and other players who use Tenergy. It's really amazing! Definitely give it a try at least once!
Next I'm thinking of trying the 05 or 64.

      Reviews by user

It felt like a rubber with very few quirks. That said, the ball-grip and arc are unmistakably Tenergy.
I'd often heard it described as being positioned between the 05 and 64, but to me it felt more on the 64 side of things.
So if you're using the 64 and thinking you want a bit more arc, or a bit more spin when brushing the ball, switching to this should satisfy that.
On the other hand, people who switch from the 05 to the 80 tend to end up going back to the 05, so if you want more speed than the 05 gives you, changing your blade might be a faster route than changing rubber.

This rubber doesn't have any one standout strength, but that's exactly what gives it its exquisite balance and control. Among the Tenergy line, it's probably the easiest for beginners to handle. It's pretty expensive, but even I, who used to struggle with my backhand, got good at it. Highly recommended.

Tenajibaka (Experience: 6〜10 years) If you're buying Tenergy, buy the 80

      Reviews by user

To all of you torn between Tenergy 80 and 05‼︎
Tenergy 05 is an amazing rubber with tons of spin! With spin alone, you can still control it. But if it had 05's spin combined with 64's speed, there's no way you could hold it back‼︎ Tenergy 80 combines the qualities of the 05 and 64 at a high level. In fact, Rio Olympics bronze medalist Jun Mizutani described the 80 like this‼︎ he said it feels like the 05 and 64 mixed and split down the middle! I think that's exactly right. Also, if the 05's spin has captured your heart, why not try it on your backhand‼︎ For reference, I use it on my Jun Mizutani Super ZLC like this:
      Forehand... Tenergy 80
      Backhand... Tenergy 05‼︎
Don't you ever feel like your backhand doesn't get enough spin? This combo will definitely solve that problem‼︎ Tenergy 64 works too, I think‼︎
      Well, for the backhand anyway‼︎
Tenergy 64 makes chiquita really easy to pull off. And you can win fast rallies with it too!
Well, it's honestly not an exaggeration to say the 80 has no weaknesses‼︎

Both the sponge and the topsheet are soft, so the ball sinks in easily and drives go in well. Spin is easy to generate too, and smashing is easy.

Max thickness and thick were completely different. Max thickness had better speed and spin than thick. Since Tenergy 80 degrades quickly, if you want it to last, it's better to go with a thicker sponge. It feels like thinner sponges perform worse once they've degraded. If you plan to replace your rubber regularly, thick should be fine. For the feel right from the start, thick is the best. Max thickness takes some time to get used to.
