TENERGY 05 has a unique feeling using a combination of Spring Sponge technology, High Tension rubber and a tacky surface. It is excellent for imparting a great deal of spin on the ball. 05 in the name was adopted from Pimples Code No. 5. Tenergy 05 enables a full range of topspin play at or away from the table. It keeps its explosive power throughout the life of the rubber without the use of speed glue or boosting. Tenergy 05 is very popular among world-class table tennis players. European Champion Timo Boll uses Tenergy 05 on forehand and backhand.

First off, as a baseline, this is good for players who can really swing through the ball.
But for players who can't generate much swing speed, or who can't place the ball where they want, I wouldn't easily recommend it.
That's because the ball ends up flat and predictable, and your opponent will just break it down.
So this is really for intermediate to advanced players who can properly control spin, speed, and placement!

I used this on the backhand side of an Acoustic Carbon.
I remember when it first came out — right after speed glue and other boosting agents got banned — and it was this insane rubber that brought a huge revolution to the table tennis world.
It's really become the rubber that defines the category.
The auto-spin feel, how well the ball settles on the table, the sharp spin, speed, distance — all of it is top-notch.
I think it's a rubber that's relatively easy to use even for people who couldn't handle the Dignics series.
As a personal downside, I felt like it's really affected by the opponent's spin.
So I honestly can't recommend it to players whose technique for generating spin (serves, drives) or receiving it (returns, blocks) isn't stable yet.If anything, it feels more like "a rubber that lets players with solid fundamentals play with less effort."
Once you can handle any rubber to a certain level, definitely give Tenergy 05 a try.

Just amazing, plain and simple. Both loop drives and speed drives go in, and you get plenty of spin. The serve might take some getting used to. Usable at an intermediate level, but you really master it at an advanced level. You should try it at least once.

I recently saw it selling for around 6,500 yen on Yahoo Shopping. Before the 05, I was using Rozena. If you're going to use Tenergy, I think you'll appreciate its benefits more if you use something like G1 or Rozena first. Since it really flies, a 5-ply blade is easy to use with it. If you're confident in your arm, a blade with carbon/special material is fine too. It might feel hard, but it's still much softer than Hurricane.

I got to try a friend's racket!
Before trying it, I figured it would be an advanced-level rubber that just flies off the blade, but I was surprised at how much control it actually had.
It sinks into the sponge easily, and both topspin drives and blocks come out with a nice arc and feel stable.
It was on an offensive blade, but I tried chopping with it too. Since it gets good distance, if you swing firmly from top to bottom, you get a sharp, aggressive chop. I think it could totally work for a chopper too (pro players actually use it that way).
That said, whether you can rely on it in a tense match situation really depends on your skill level..
I think the best time to switch to this is right when you're moving from intermediate to advanced as a tension-rubber user! All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

It's really great. I think this is a world-class rubber. It's the best in every aspect — spin, speed, and control.
