TENERGY 05 has a unique feeling using a combination of Spring Sponge technology, High Tension rubber and a tacky surface. It is excellent for imparting a great deal of spin on the ball. 05 in the name was adopted from Pimples Code No. 5. Tenergy 05 enables a full range of topspin play at or away from the table. It keeps its explosive power throughout the life of the rubber without the use of speed glue or boosting. Tenergy 05 is very popular among world-class table tennis players. European Champion Timo Boll uses Tenergy 05 on forehand and backhand.

    Customer Reviews SummaryAI Summary
Tenergy 05 is highly rated for its overwhelming spin performance and speed, with most reviews suggesting it's a legendary rubber that intermediate to advanced players should try once. However, its strong auto-touch makes it difficult to control, and players without solid fundamentals struggle to unlock its full potential.
    ■ Frequently Mentioned Points
    • Exceptional spin and speed at top level
    • Soft with strong auto-touch for ease
    • Drive and loop strokes excel
    • Requires intermediate+ skill level
    • Short lifespan and high cost
    ■ Representative Voices
▲ PositiveRotation is automatically applied, making drives and loops easy to execute with incredible spin volume and sharp trajectory. Reliable quality that keeps players coming back regardless of other options.
▽ CriticalThe strong auto-touch makes it difficult to fully control and execute, causing players without solid fundamentals to only make mistakes. The short lifespan and high price are also significant drawbacks.

Gengar (Experience: 6〜10 years) Spin performance on another level

      Reviews by user

I played with the max thickness version on a Harimoto Innerforce Layer ALC. Weight was 48.2g
Even compared to Tenergy 80, the spin performance is a clear step above and produces a heavy ball. Since it has that auto-drive quality, even a normal block bites into the ball right after the bounce, so it looked hard for opponents to handle.
That said, it feels harder than Tenergy 80 and bounces more too.
I think it's also a good option to use on your weaker side, taking advantage of that "auto" feeling. There are other rubbers out there that just get the ball on the table without much effort, but the Tenergy 05 clearly puts more spin on the ball and produces a noticeably higher quality shot.
Flat hitting on the backhand isn't especially hard either, but since it generates so much spin, you inevitably end up with more of an arc.
For backspin balls, it was better to hit early and let the ball sink into the sponge. Dropping your contact point and brushing the ball with the sheet wasn't very stable, partly because of how much it bounces. I think this rubber suits modern table tennis, where you hit hard on an early contact point.
Also, for players with a weaker impact, the ball didn't seem to come through with much force, so if it feels too hard when you try it, I think Tenergy 80 would be a better fit.

The performance is guaranteed. Even a light forehand hit changes the ball quality so much that your opponent can notice the difference. The spin is more than enough, and it bounces quite a lot, so controlling that takes some skill.

60th birthday pendora (Experience: More than 20 years) Tenergy, better late than never

      Reviews by user

A bit late to say this, but Tenergy really is a great rubber. Nothing to complain about with the spin. Both powerful drives and short blocks are easy to pull off.
Using the thick version also lets you vary the power of your drives, so you can mix up your attack.

Both the spin and the speed are top-notch
It's easy to use, and now that plastic balls are the standard, it doesn't feel as stiff as it used to
The ball comes out clean, so it might not suit players who like to produce tricky, unpredictable shots
If the price weren't so high, this is a rubber I'd want to use forever

i love table tennis (Experience: 4〜5 years) Wonderful rubber

      Reviews by user

      Using this on the forehand.
It puts a ton of spin on the ball, and the speed is pretty good too.
It's the kind of rubber you can master once you get used to it.
Also, I was able to flick really well with it.
I think it works for everyone from beginners to advanced players.

Table tennis - GTR (Experience: 2〜3 years) If in doubt, go with 05

      Reviews by user

This is the Tenergy that everyone loves.
The spin performance is just absurd. No matter how low your contact point is, it grips the ball and sends it forward with real reassurance. The speed is solid too, only slightly behind Rasant.
Of all the TENERGY rubbers, this is the one best suited to spin, and it has a good offense-defense balance too.
Another feature is that it lasts noticeably longer, so you can still put good spin on the ball even after using it for a while.
Before jumping into the 05, I'd recommend building up some experience with Rozena or Glayzer first.
It's not as quirky as Rasant, but it's still a rubber that really requires some skill to use well…
The weight and price are the sticking points, but it's the type of rubber that suits pretty much everyone, so why not give it a try?
Just something to keep in mind!

Lion (Experience: 6〜10 years) Oh! Oh?

      Reviews by user

The spin really is impressive, as expected.
It feels like whatever you hit just goes in.
Loop drives in particular were easy to pull off.
That said, whether it's because the blade doesn't have much pop or because the rubber is soft, I'm not sure,
but I didn't get much power out of it.
If you're going to use this, I'd recommend pairing it with an outer-ply blade.
