TENERGY 05 has a unique feeling using a combination of Spring Sponge technology, High Tension rubber and a tacky surface. It is excellent for imparting a great deal of spin on the ball. 05 in the name was adopted from Pimples Code No. 5. Tenergy 05 enables a full range of topspin play at or away from the table. It keeps its explosive power throughout the life of the rubber without the use of speed glue or boosting. Tenergy 05 is very popular among world-class table tennis players. European Champion Timo Boll uses Tenergy 05 on forehand and backhand.

It's become really famous as a spin-focused rubber, and yeah, it really is amazing. It generates spin on a completely different level from other tension rubbers.
Topspin drives fly off with a really pronounced arc too. I'm hoping to keep using this rubber going forward.
The downside is, as always, the price. Lifespan depends on the person so I can't say much, but it's a bit shorter than other rubbers.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

On top of a high amount of spin, it also has quite a bit of speed. And since it draws a high arc, you can hit a stable, consistent topspin drive. When looping against backspin, the high arc plus good ball-holding makes it easy to bring the ball up.
This time I tried it out a bit on the backhand side.
I think part of it comes down to my own skill and stroke, but the arc was too high, and I kept overshooting on backhand drives, so the ball wouldn't land on the table. Once I backed off the table a bit to hit, it became stable. Blocking felt somewhat affected too.

Tenergy 05 puts a ton of spin on the ball, and even a softly hit ball really carries through.
But when I put it on a blade that already has a lot of bounce, it bounced so much that I started overshooting a lot. Once I got used to it, though, I was amazed by how much spin it generated.Downsides
- The lifespan is still short
- It's easily affected by incoming spin
- It bounces more than you'd expectThose are the main ones.
If you use a blade with a lot of built-in bounce, you'll overshoot a lot, so I wouldn't recommend that combination.
Good points
- It generates a huge amount of spin
- It doesn't lose out in power exchanges
- Hitting with the racket more upright from mid-distance gives you more spin and carry than hitting close to the table

This is a really good rubber. You can overwhelm your opponent with its incredible amount of spin and speed.
It also draws a high arc and holds the ball well, so a lot of techniques feel stable and easy to execute.
That said, it's easily affected by incoming spin, so I found the short game a bit tricky.
Even a light hit produces a decent ball, but if you don't put your own power behind the shot, you won't get the rubber's full potential out of it, so I think if beginners keep using this, they end up playing table tennis that relies too much on the equipment. I've seen a lot of people like that.As I mentioned, given that it's easily affected by spin and the short game is a bit tricky, players who are good at rallies but weak at the short game might find themselves losing points before the rally even starts. Honestly that's true for me too, so practicing the short game is essential. I imagine top players put a huge amount of practice into their short game.
It's hard to handle at first, but once you get used to it, it's a really good rubber. Tenergy really lives up to its reputation.All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little hard

Before coming back to Tenergy, I was using Rozena. One thing to watch out for is that Tenergy bounces way more. Some people might have trouble adjusting to the change in feel, so I wouldn't recommend switching suddenly, like a week before a tournament. Tenergy itself is a really good rubber. I'm turning a blind eye to the price hike, since apparently it's meant to curb resellers. Even a light hit gives you a solid sense of the ball driving forward. Once you get used to blocking with it, you can start aiming for specific courses too.

For thickness, medium or thick is the way to go - once you're more advanced, I'd recommend max thickness.
Dealing with backspin really does take a lot of nerve, though...

The spin performance is just amazing!
With topspin drives, it's less about swinging your arm to send the ball and more about letting the "spin" carry it!
The ball sinks into the sponge easily, gets loaded with spin, and you can hit a stable, consistent drive.
Every kind of receive is easy, though it can be affected by incoming spin.
If you're someone who can really sink the ball in when you hit, or if you feel your drives are lacking in spin, definitely give this a try!All Speed Spin Control Hardness Little soft
